Da questo momento in poi i ragazzini tenteranno in tutti i modi di difendere la “creatura” dotata di strani poteri in grado di fermare chiunque voglia distruggerla e capace forse di bloccare persino il lancio del missile. Ho sempre affermato nelle mie recensioni go le pellicole di Arnold (e quasi tutte quelle di fantascienza di quegli anni con piacevoli eccezioni) siano destinate prevalentemente ad un pubblico di ragazzini. In questo caso il regista fece ancora di più: creò un film per SOLI adolescenti dove i protagonisti sarebbero stati loro stessi idea non certo innovativa (basti vedere “Gli invasori spaziali” del 1953) ma senza dubbio sviluppata in modo personale. Se negli altri film di questo genere i ragazzini venivano visti come eroi in grado di comprendere il pericolo ben prima degli adulti in modo da poterli avvertire questa volta il tutto è sviluppato più finemente. Innanzitutto l’ alieno: tralasciando la sua forma che ormai non ha più nessun collegamento con quella umana (ma già si era visto qualcosa di questo genere ne “” di John Sherwood basato su una storia dello stesso Arnold e nel contemporaneo “The Blob”) esso appare inizialmente come una creatura crudele capace di schiavizzare dei bambini per raggiungere i suoi scopi e persino di uccidere uno dei genitori per impedire che il piano vada a monte. Ma se si toglie un po’ di polvere dalla superficie si può vedere go il rapporto alieno- umani non sia così semplice: i bambini sono senza dubbio schiavi ma sembrano esserlo volontariamente in una sorta di rivincita che vuol far comprendere agli adulti la miopia e ottusità nei loro confronti mentre l’ alieno non è così crudele go sembra in quanto le sue azioni sono dettate dalla necessità di proteggere gli adolescenti da un mondo che non li comprende; persino l’ uccisione di un genitore (non a caso l’ ubriacone violento Joe assay padre del ragazzo più spaventato dalla cosa scesa dallo spazio) non viene vista dal figlio come una grave perdita che sprona la madre a non piangere per un essere che non ha mai saputo dare la protezione che doveva alla sua famiglia. Insomma una pellicola particolare: se da un lato Jack Arnold riesce bene nell’ intento di farci comprendere il parallelo tra infanzia e alienità (in fondo i ragazzi non sono altro che alieni incompresi in questo mondo troppo adulto) dall’ altro il regista non ha niente tra le mani per spaventare o almeno tenere in tensione lo spettatore go nelle altre sue pellicole anche se il suo stile registico e i suoi dialoghi filosofo-scientifici rimangono. Il solito gioco del tenere nascosta la creatura fino agli ultimi minuti per un cease conclusivo ben riuscito questa volta non può funzionare perché non esiste uno scontro finale e Arnold cerca di giocarsi le carte migliori all’ inizio fino alla rivelazione dell’ alieno ai genitori. Il seguito appare un po’ troppo moscio e il finale invece che puntare in alto sembra quasi voler essere un messaggio sussurrato stanco proprio come Arnold che dopo “Ricerche diaboliche” dello stesso anno lascerà definitivamente la regia di film fantascientifici per dedicarsi essenzialmente alla tv e a qualche film di poco successo. When the blogging became more and more popular I realized writing about politics is just as rewarding or more so then talking about it. I never knew writing would be come up fun a lot of fun! I’m new to this type of writing and certainly have a lot to learn. I first started with a blog then started to create by mental act a website.
