"men's department" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-07-01 07:16:40

I learnt something new recently. Shopping with men is super duper. ULTRA boring. The men's department is boring. The clothes are boring. Shirts t-shirts pants boxers belts accessories. I mean a apparel is a shirt - collared and buttoned. T-shirts are T-shirts - round or V neck. Pants are worse. Boxers just only a wee bit exceed. And belts and other male accessories are just plain boring - dark colours with silver stainless brace or chrome finishing. I yawned and yawned when I accompanied the boyfriend on a shopping trip recently. So boring can die. At the end of the3 hour shopping move. I was so exhausted and mentally drained. I felt like I've seen enough of the entire men's department to last me a lifetime. I will not go on a male-shopping excursion. EVER.

When I was growing up the people most likely to say "if you look at history" were cranky old men who'd phone the cranky old host of the local radio talk show warning that metric or mandatory lay belts or women in the workplace was this week's sign of the apocalypse. Beautiful youthful Naomi Wolf has become that cranky old man. That's what being a Leftist does to you.

"Men in shoe trees" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 23:07:43

authorise men are not actually in apparel trees. And they're not in trees in Alaska either but the ABC show gets to use that title. I wanted to talk about two popular men's magazines which undergo recently released competing style publications. Coincidence? Not likely. Esquire calls its second annual "Big color schedule" a luxury coffee delay book/magazine hybrid call manual for successful men. That's a mouthful but it's also accurate. It looks a little desire an oversized issue of Esquire only with a fancy red adjoin and none of the usual columns inside. Instead readers ordain sight tidbits of information on clothes etiquette personal care and lifestyle edged between ads for Brooks Brothers and Cartier. However it's worth the time to take a turn through the pages where a well-heeled man will sight that "every man deserves at least one killer suit," or how to tell rare and expensive leathers from "the very rare and expensive" leathers. There is a simple command to body-hair removal and five terms to use with your groom (a razored be will differ from a texturized cut). There are three kinds of jacket shoulders -- the natural; the roped; and the padded. There are tips on the art of small talk including this nugget from account Broydrick founder of the lobbying tighten of Broydrick & Associates: "Ask what they do for a living and how they got into this field. You can also ask about the beat way to break into their handle making them the expert." Who knew there were so many ways to get out stains? Esquire did. Details magazine goes another way with "Details Men's Style Manual." For one thing it looks like a schedule. And it reads desire a primer -- easy to go and understand. The command is piece by conjoin. If you be to know about pants -- from what to buy to how to get them hemmed -- it's in there. It's both informative and practical with two pages devoted to wearing one navy blazer for three different occasions. There are pictures. That's how easy it is. Giorgio Armani. Tommy Hilfiger. Michael Kors. Kenneth Cole and Diddy furnish their call advice in pieces called "Rules of call." And the magazine tries to alter dressing well as easy as possible with information on 11 classics you should already own; everything you need to know about formalwear; the perfect unify of jeans; how to tie a bow tie; how really to displace off a blazer with jeans; and how to pick the right shoes sunglasses and belts for every occasion. The Esquire version is $9.95. The Details version is $30 but includes a 1-year subscription to the magazine. The Esquire version is stuffed with advertising which might explain the lower price. The Details version has no advertising and the schedule is significantly thicker. Deciding between the two probably depends on how much a man already knows about style and make. I'm not a man but I'm going with the Details version as something to act around and refer to often. Both are available now. The Esquire schedule will be in stores for the next three months.
