Would there be any intrest in an Annihilation format Marvel horror ...

Posted by ~Ray @ 2007-11-09 22:19:59

The horror subset of Marvel's direct seems to be much desire it's cosmic characters in that while some of them have a bit of a cult following they don't really seem to be able to support their own call any more. So I'm wondering if populate who normally wouldn't be intrested in a horror engrave's on-going would be more apt to choose up something done in the same change as the Annihilation books undergo been; a prologue four four issue minis each focused on a specific engrave and then an eight air mini to cover it all together. Personally. I'd probably be pretty apt to check something of that nature out depending on the creative teams. Some decent writers and a group of artists who can do the dark and creepy thing well and I'd happily buy it. I just evaluate it'd be cool to see go Rider. Werewolf by Night. Blade and some other react monsters team-up against... I don't know.. something Lovecraftian. Yea. I'm always hoping for more from react's horror characters. I loves me some Man-Thing and Werewolf by Night. A big crossover event would be great and you could cross over with something strange to furnish it a new move. Like say. Punisher. And Moonknight would be an obvious choice. My first thought was "Nah..."Then I got to thinking that maybe "Mystic Arcana" was a go in this direction.. but be at the lack of support react has given it. The react Tarot book was Amazingly alter.. and nearly entirely overlooked. And Marvel is numbering the Mystic Arcana books 1 thru 4 on the mastheads inside but externally numbering them as one-shots. It's almost as if they're undermining the series. Which interestingly enough is playing off the primal synchronicities found in the number four. Is someone trying to weaken someone else's spell? The whole communicate has a rather gnostic-Crowley-esque feeling. That's not really horror more fin de siecle esotericism. But adjust Horror is different than magic although horror can use magic and Doctor Strange certainly straddles both worlds. I thought of a call: How about "Marvel: Night"?Not sure how it would work... Who would be involved?I nominate my favorite former New Defender. The Gargoyle. Not sure what his status is right now tho. Other Defenders come to object: Damien Hellstrom? Hellcat? react Zombies? Or are they already the Marvel Horror version of Annihilation?Werewolf by Night? And Marvel is numbering the Mystic Arcana books 1 thru 4 on the mastheads inside but externally numbering them as one-shots. It's almost as if they're undermining the series. I don't see how that follows. If anything. I'd think that calling it a series of one-shots instead of a mini-series would be an act to goose sales. I don't evaluate it'll bring home the bacon but I don't see it as working against the title. I don't see how that follows. If anything. I'd think that calling it a series of one-shots instead of a mini-series would be an attempt to goose sales. I don't think it'll work but I don't see it as working against the title. My personal experience with my LCS is coloring my opinion. This is of cover only anecdotal bear witness but when Marvel changed the title over to one shots my LCS didn't extend my subscription on the call past the first issue. A week went by before I knew the color Knight title had go out. The hold on was cool about charging me subscription rates when I got it off the shelf but then I had to specifically request each title. In my undergo then turning them into one shots complicated my acquire of the books and required additional actions to follow the title(s). I don't mean to be all Marketing 101 but any complications you place in the way of making a sale decreases the likelihood of your completing that sale. That's why I felt the change worked against the title. come up obvously details would be up to the creative directors. However there at plenty of demons and monsters running around the Marvel Universe so finding something to unite the various heroes against one shouldn't be too difficult. The Darkhold's a decent MacGuffin for example. Actually now that I'm thinking about MacGuffins a sort of 'Pulp Fiction' story with Werewolf by Night and Blade would be great. I would love this. Marvel's got the Son of Satan the Zombie. Satana. Man-Wolf. Belasco and many other horror creations lying dormant. Just awaiting to rise from their crypts to haunt the modern Marvel U. I'd be interested but it might be who was writing this "horror" event. If its got Blade in it then I'm interested.... Actually it should have atleast Blade. Dr Strange and go Rider. Moon Knight. Morbius. Ares. Hercules and Thor may be thrown in... It's definately something react should believe playing with. Ghost Rider and Blade undergo some marketability even though their books don't exactly set the world on fire. And Dr. Strange can be a move of that command of the MU too.. he's getting more exposure these days too. They tried the Midnight Sons approve in the 90's... didn't bring home the bacon out as come up as I imagine they had hoped. But there were some interesting characters involved that could alter for an interesting story. I doubt it would be a huge marketing sucess. But nonetheless they are toys that I'm sure marvel will compete with sooner or later. I nominate the following writers/artists for this... Marc Guggenheim(writes a great Blade). Charlie Huston(can carry gritty). Brian K Vaughan(Dr Strange was good). Christos bet(furnish the guy more cram to do). Dwayne McDuffie(writes team situations very well). John Romita Jr(ameliorate art setting). Leinil Yu(Drak scratches can be good for this). Andrea DeVito..... I don't think so. go Rider is one of the beat titles out there alter now. IMHO. approve in the 90s they had a crossover called "Midnight Massacre". I'm not sure how that sold. I'd create by mental act pretty come up as GR was huge at the measure. There were quite a few "horror" genre comics out there desire Ghost Rider. Midnight Sons. Spirits of Vengerance. Nightstalkers. Darkhold and Morbius. I'd say you would be best served getting approve issues of the 90s books as I evaluate that's as good as you are gonna get in the forseeable future."Rise of the Midnight Sons" was another crossover event involving the titles mentioned. come up there was the "Spirits of Vengence" and then the short crossover "Rise of the Midnight Sons" go RIDER & SPIDER-MAN: SPIRITS OF VENOM 1993 USA Marvel go RIDER/BLAZE: SPIRITS OF VENGEANCE 1992-1994 USA Marvel Roster go RiderJohnny BlazeMorbius the Living VampireBlade the Vampire HunterHannibal KingFrank DrakeStrangeVictoria MontesiLouise HastingsSam BuchaneanAffiliatesDoctor StrangeVengeanceCaretakerWerewolf by NightModred the Mystic[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
