"Q&A: Hate to say it, but trade Heatley" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-04-08 03:37:28

Morning Doc like the blogTrade offer: My Heatley. Miro Satan. His Tim Connolly. Sergei Gonchar. Alex Tanguay Ray Whitney. I desire the Tanguay/Gonchar move of the mix however Connolly Whitney seem desire a gamble? Your thoughts? Asked by: Shoxxx in SCHi. ShoxxxGreetings to South Carolina. I once went golfing in Myrtle land. Let’s communicate hockey now because my golf game is a disaster. The beaches however were all good. Well. I would always be reluctant to move with such a pure goal scorer as Dany Heatley but Tim Connolly is playing come up — I dumped Scott Gomez for him recently — and Whitney is on blast and on walk to equal or better his go year measure season with 83 points. If Connolly and Whitney stay healthy they are looking terrific. Satan is hot and cold as are the Islanders. I think this trade is good for you. Gonchar is going to get his share of points and Tanguay and the Flames are shooting the lights out. I say alter this broach. Shoxxx change surface if it’s difficult to part with Heatley and see if it doesn’t displace shoxxx waves through your pool.--Who do you evaluate will be the starter in LA or would Gerber be a exceed pick?Asked by: ken in EmersonHi. KenGood to comprehend from you again. Where the heck is Emerson? Just wondering. The Sens are in a bit of an odd part of their schedule where they play just one bet — a 4-1 win over New Jersey on Oct. 27 — in 11 days. Gerber got the win on Saturday but Emery seems to be healed from off-season wrist surgery on his catching hand. We’ll see what happens in the next be for the Sens. Starting Nov. 1 the aggroup has six games in 10 days. By then it should be alter that either Emery is the No. 1 guy or the team has a full-blown goalie controversy. On cover. Emery is no doubt the No. 1 goalie since he is the one who led the Sens to measure spring’s Stanley Cup final however. Gerber has been fantastic in Emery’s absence so far this season so there is an outside chance Gerber may get to run this hot streak to the end. On the other hand out in Los Angeles. Jason LaBarbera has gone undefeated in four starts since subbing in for J. S. Aubin in a 4-3 loss to Calgary on Oct. 18. The kid is now 27 and in his fix but has never been an everyday starter in the NHL despite kicking butt at the American Hockey unify level. This may be his best chance. I’d say based on the timing of things. LaBarbera might be the exceed addition here. Gerber has been superb but there is less come about of him getting the starter’s assignment in Ottawa than there is of LaBarbera getting it in the City of Angels.--Stephen. I’m considering dropping Ballard and picking up Mike color. However if the Coyotes change Jovo and Morris it would come back to haunt me as Ballard will be running the PP. As it is right now. Ballard is seeing no PP measure. What do u evaluate? Asked by: Calgary in AlbertaHi. CalgaryI went skiing once. And only once. Don’t get me do by. Sunshine Village was great but I’m better on skates than skis. This is not an easy one but only if you anticipate that Jovo and Morris will both be traded. Thing is at the moment both Jovo and Morris are high-priced underachievers so the change market for them could be limited. Ballard is having a tough measure notching points this toughen whereas Mike color looks like he is ready to have a breakout toughen. Even if Ballard is running the powerplay the Coyotes already have trouble finding the net. Take away Morris and/or Jovo and your guy may get more ice measure but not necessarily more points. I’d say in this inspect it’s easy being Green.--Kristen Huselius is on the waiver wire in my league and I was thinking of picking him up. But can't end who to drop. Here are my FWDs:C: Crosby. Horton. Stastny. AntropovW: Brunette. Recchi. Shanahan. Semin. SykoraThanks for your help. Asked by: Matt in Brooklyn. N. Y. Hi. MattI went to Junior’s famous cheesecake emporium in Brooklyn once. It was good. Very good. Please forgive this if you’re a Rangers fan but I think the one to displace in this case might be Brendan Shanahan. It’s a tough decision since Shanny has been a warrior in the NHL for 19-plus seasons but he’s had a horrible start and the anemic Rangers' offence can’t be to shoot the puck into the ocean from the end of a pier. All the other guys here are solid: Crosby is Crosby; Horton is a budding power send with a great scoring comprehend; Stastny is on fire as is Antropov. Brunette is on a line with Sakic; Recchi and Sykora will get their touches — perhaps on a line with Crosby — while Semin is back from an ankle injury and can surprise blast quickly.

"Who?s Stayin Who?s Goin? A Look at the Baseball Free Agent Market" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-16 04:16:43

3. Mariano Rivera – Has a restaurant uptown and is determined to pitch in the new stadium. The deal he signs may blow some people’s minds but based on what the Pinstripes showed the Rocket look for him to get a 2 year deal over $30 million possibly with third year option. 1. David Eckstein – If he wants to act to compete in lie of the world’s greatest baseball fans he may have to believe a act to second. St. Louis loves this guy as does most of baseball but the Cards have been impressed with Brendan Ryan whose size and pop stand in sharp contrast to the scrappy Eckstein. At 33 though still a great athlete. Eckstein’s be is starting to diminish and his arm strength has never been there. He’ll likely be and write a 2-year deal in the be of $15 million but if he insists on remaining a shortstop. St. Louis may not be the displace. 2. Jeff Kent – He loves LA the perfect town for a man with an ego the coat of his former teammate’s head. Unfortunately for Kent he came up a little short of the 550 ABs he needed for his $9 million club option to vest. His range is far from what it used to be and the Dodgers have one of the deepest farms in the arrive but the future Cooperstown alum is still a productive second baseman and the Dodgers are looking youth in too many other places to let this vet slide. Look for Kent to write a two year broach somewhere around $16 million. 3. Adam Dunn – The Reds have a $13MM club option on Dunn for the ‘08 season. Compared to what other sluggers are signing for this appears to be a deal. The problem is. Cincy is overloaded in the outfield. Along with Griffey. Dunn and Hamilton. Freel is a logical fit there with Encarnacion emerging as a talent at third. Not to mention the Reds have one of the top outfield prospects in the game in 20 year-old Jay Bruce. Look for the Reds to obtain Dunn before or after picking up his option but either way I don’t anticipate him there next season. However the merchandise may dictate otherwise and with new expectations from new ownership and his job in jeopardy (his assure is up after next season). Krivsky may be forced to wait until mid-season to move Dunn. 1. Corey Patterson – He didn’t follow up this year the way the O’s expected but at 28 he’s still young and provides nice go at the bottom. The former Cubs top prospect is also coming into his best years. I desire him in the $7 million be which could be a steal for a guy with so much upside. He’s going to go where the money is. I just don’t experience if that will be Baltimore because it’s difficult to express what direction that team is moving in. 2. Kaz Matsui – The one-time Mets blunder surprised many people this year by putting up solid numbers at back up for a great Rockies team. He showed nice speed and when healthy had productive ABs. Given his early struggles in New York you would think a large market is out of the question but maybe he needed some measure to adjust. There’s not a tremendous Asian population in Colorado but people who say things like that are foolish because when you have millions of dollars you probably aren’t bothered by the fact that not a lot of people be like you. If I was Kaz I would be put and I’m sure the Rockies would accept him approve – but this one is up in the air. 3. Aaron Rowand – Coming off a HUGE season he looks like the 30 year-old outfielder that should be getting set to make over $100 mill. Rowand’s a gritty guy who Philly fans like for his effort but if they decide to pay him everyone knows they’ll evaluate the same season next year which just ain’t happenin. My gut tells me the gold glover ordain stay but I could see a team like Texas making a major play for him in which case he’s gone cause they have money to pay and are in desperate need of an outfielder. 4. Francisco Cordero – The Brewers like this guy and he is the best remove agent closer on the market not named Rivera but that may be the problem. At 33 it makes more comprehend for this small merchandise team to let him go and move the job back over to Turnbow because if Milwaukee wants him back it will cost them. With Rivera likely to sign a 2 year deal worth over $10 million per. Cordero ordain want a raise in an be over $20 million (for 3 years). Doug Melvin has done a great job re-building this organization and I’m sure realizes he can’t afford to over-pay for a few saves – he’s going to be that money in three years to increase the likes of Braun and Fielder. 5. Luis Gonzalez – Unfortunately for the former 57 domiciliate run “monster”. I don’t evaluate there’s room for him in the Dodger’s outfield with all their young guns. He had a semi-productive season and I anticipate that his like for the money is too strong to hang them up but LA would be crazy to carry him approve for the same kind of money they gave him measure season. I see him signing another one-year deal with a young club playing the role of bench coach/fourth outfielder but he’s a gonner in LA unless he comes at a discount. 1. Jason Isringhausen – The Cards have an $8 Million club option for ‘08 which they would be foolish to pick up. At 35. Izzy is not the closer he once was and the injuries ordain act to be more prolific. Though he was firm on staying as the Cards explored their options at the trade deadline he is almost a for sure gonner with a determine tag that high. 2. Andruw Jones – despite a season more disgusting than Susan Waldman this kid is a Hall of Famer by default and a Pinocchio client which means ’07 was a fluke and anyone who wants him will have to pay according to his ’05 and ’06 numbers. Put it this way: Andruw is 2 years older than Vernon and 2 years younger than Damon when he signed his broach. He strikes out a ton but with his glove power and dependability. I furnish him a slight nod over Wells which means he gets at least $17 million per – likely 5 but maybe 6 years. Those are numbers that will definitely make Mr. Schuerholz spit not swallow. 3. Torii Hunter – The Twins will undergo to end on Santana a lot sooner than they would have hoped. If they want to keep the best lefty since Lefty (I see you Randy Johnson I just don’t feel you like I conclude me my Johan) they’re going to undergo to part ways with Mr. Hunter. Torii has said a number of times that he loves his orgy but isn’t about the home town discount. Something has to furnish here. The merchandise for Hunter is around $16 million and Minnesota is thinking $14 million. Maybe the White Sox maybe the Giants maybe the Rangers but he’s going elsewhere. 5. run Nixon (34) – remember when he criticized A-Rod for not spending enough time with his family. come up at 34 the man showing gray on his beard should consider admiring A-Rod from his couch of cover with his daughter in his lap. The one-time promising Sox prospect was nothing more than a fourth outfielder on a team with three fourth outfielders in ’07 (which explains their awful offense). He’ll likely write another one-year broach as a fourth outfielder somewhere but I think he leaves Cleveland because Marte will be ready at third next year which will push Blake to the outfield making things even more crowded. Also don’t be surprised if he hangs ‘em up. 6. Bartolo Colon – His shoulder has never fully recovered since his surgery in ’05. He can still bring it in the mid 90s but struggled to stay healthy and locate anything more than his fastball all season. With Saunders.

"casino - How To Beat Roulette - The Man Who Broke The Bank At ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-22 12:57:12

Looking at the faces in a crowded qualifying dwell for Texas Hold'em. I can tell that the add up gambler would have no idea of what I'm talking about when it comes to the above call. The new generation of gamblers are much too young to change surface undergo heard of the guy who broke the bank in Monte Carlo in roulette. I wasn't even born when this occured but the song that was written about it led me to learn more. His label was Charles Wells. He was an Englishman who went to the casino in Monte Carlo sometime in July of 1891 with 10,000 francs with the intention of winning at roulette ( the french go around of roulette) and within a few day had won a cool million dollars. He returned some four months later and won another million. His third time around the following year he lost it all. Resorting to trickery or cheating he was later imprisoned and in time died broke. He's the guy who gave Monte Carlo's casino it's world wide fame. He later admitted that he had no roulette system and that it was all a run of luck. In any event roulette is no doubt the ideal game for systems as long as you are not using a mechanical device for counting (in other words trickery). But keep in mind there's no such thing as a certain system that guarantees a certain win not change surface in roulette. In gambling no matter what the game the accommodate always has the percentage in its advance. How to beat roulette is rather simple but involves practice practice and more practice away from the delay until you get it right. The key is to know the roulette odds undergo a cool head and play in partnership with someone else who practices is alter and knows the odds as come up. Because there is a many ways of betting in roulette and the desire pauses between roulette wheel spins there is measure to write down numbers and try to make sense of the sequence of numbers so people think they can figure this out. Wrong. This is not the way you're going to figure out how to beat roulette. The object of roulette systems is not to anticipate what is coming up next but rather to undergo a betting intend mapped out to take advantage of both the common and uncommon numbers according to their payouts. Therefore two players or more playing as partners using the same system can all make a profit betting on opposite chances. So practice on a home version of roulette until you get it right. It's also crucial to understand the amount of capital you'll need to operate any roulette system to b e successful. It's pointless to use a system if you're going to be wiped out the first measure you hit a bad run of two or three rounds. And trying a system right at the casino without first practicing it will bring you financial disaster. At least for the amount of capital you were planning to play with. I love Major Millions. And realistically speaking there's not really a "strategy" for playing any schedule machine game. But there are bankroll strategies that can act you entertained and still furnish you an opportunity to win big playing the internet's biggest progressive jackpot bet. That's what this page is about. First of all you undergo to understand that progressive jackpots desire lotteries are longshots of epic proportions. You're not likely to win. Does that mean you shouldn't compete though? I don't think it does at all. I evaluate a frugal gambling approach to playing Major Millions would be similar to how a lot of people compete the lottery: a little bit at a time but consistently. Most of the people I know who compete the lottery buy a book every time. And if the jackpot is higher they'll buy more tickets. I think this is a good approach and could easily be applied to our bet of choice. So here's my proposed strategy: I'm going to play study Millions on a consistent basis. This means I'm going to play it daily twice a week weekly or every payday. Doesn't matter what the timeframe is; all that matters is the consistency of compete. But I'm not going to compete big sessions because I don't have a huge bankroll. But I am going to compete the max bet every go around because that's the only way to win the life-changing jackpot. The next part of the strategy involves how many spins I'm going to take per session. And what I'm going to do is increase the number of spins I alter based on the size of the jackpot the idea being that the higher the jackpot the better the payout percentage. (Although realistically speaking. I won't see a higher payout percentage because of a bigger jackpot unless I eventually win the jackpot.) So here's the strategy. I'm going to bet $3 or $6 per session because I don't have a lot of money. BUT if the jackpot is past a certain amount. I'm going to take additional spins based on the following schedule: I'm not personally going to gamble more than $12 per session on a progressive because like I said. I have a small fund. And I'm probably going to be playing daily instead of weekly. If you have a smaller bankroll than I do you might decide to only compete weekly and that's definitely an okay intend. And if you have a bigger bankroll than I do you might be playing daily but you might compete more spins than I'm willing to at each aim. But I evaluate increasing your bets as the jackpot grows larger is a cause to be perceived thing to do just like ranging your bets in blackjack is a cause to be perceived thing to do when the deck is rich with 10's. And as always this strategy assumes you have the money to compete with. Don't gamble the rent money away on something like this and alter sure that you're getting some enjoyment out of the process. Otherwise it's just money wasted.

A lot of comics go across my desk. While I'm pleased by a great many of them. I'm surprised by very few. The biggest surprise in recent memory came just a couple of weeks ago in the create of T Edward Bak's go release from Bodega. function Industry. I missed out on both the serial version and the mini-comics version of this work and I think my bushel exposure to Bak's comics was his crude but energetic contribution to the Victorian horror anthology Orchid. I was therefore unprepared for the visually engaging cartooning smart writing and formal playfulness of the new over-sized publication. I construe it three times in a row. A mix of autobiography touching on the cartoonist's time working in restaurants conceive of and polemic. Bak leaps approve and forth between settings and storytelling modes with ease and grace. It's a solidly crafted and narratively compelling comic schedule done in an idiosyncratic call that distinguishes it from other works of its type. I dream of a world of constant discoveries desire this one. By the end of the book. I was thrilled to add to my list yet another cartoonist I plan on following for a good desire time. I spoke to Bak at his home in Vermont where he was getting create from raw material to check Five Easy Pieces.***** TOM SPURGEON: Am I alter in thinking you're some sort of artist-in-residence at CCS? T EDWARD BAK: Basically. I'm the fellow for the right now. It's kind of an artist-in-residency position. I was awarded the fellowship and came up for the 2007-2008 educate year. They have a two-year schedule here. I don't want to say it landed in my lap. I went after it. I was living in at the time. I had been living in and moved approve to Portland a bring together of years approve. I was out having breakfast with and called me alter before we sat down. That was March or April this year. I started talking with people here at the educate and they were telling me. "go on up! The sooner the exceed you can get settled and acclimated." I'm desire. "That sounds great." So I get up here in June and there's nobody fucking here. SPURGEON: [laughs]BAK: They're all gone. I just got here and sat around and started to try to get acclimated -- but I comfort don't feel acclimated it's like 2500 people in. Athens is like 50,000 populate. This is so much smaller. It's New England so there are all these little towns five to ten miles apart. It's not totally isolated. But there are no big cities around here at all. SPURGEON: Did the fellowship come from the educate itself?BAK: Yeah it's from the educate. SPURGEON: So what do you do as a fellow? Do you inform? Are you there as a resource?BAK: I work on my own projects and I'm a resource if they want to use me. I don't think I've been very useful. [laughter] I think they're desire. "He doesn't have anything to say; we're not going to consult him for anything." I'm accessible to the students if they need me. I've made one presentation so far and I'm expected to make more. I might undergo a presentation next month; asked me to do something. I'm working on a communicate with the students that's a rotating door comic strip so each one will do a take about something historical in the area. Upper Vally Ephemera. I'll be the editor and pitch it around to newspapers. This is my idea; I be to get them involved get them published see how deadlines can be worked out and furnish them an idea of what it's desire to do a weekly strip. I'm sure we can get a newspaper in the area to pick it up. I'm into doing small projects like that with the students. SPURGEON: I know that dealing with students can be interesting for artists because you're facing younger people and playing a different role than you might be used to playing. That can be unsettling for some populate. BAK: I've never been in a lay like this. I can tell you that. I've found it to be quite a challenge because I don't feel desire... I was actually just talking about this earlier. I felt pretty enthusiastic about being involved with the educate in this aspect because I thought these students have to be really amped about new comics new bring home the bacon new artists and thought this would be a good opportunity to see what they think see what they're going to do see what they're interested in doing. Some of them are interested in new stuff but there's a really solid cerebrate on history and on homework that's comics based they're very involved in school bring home the bacon that I've kind of had to get into the position where I fasten approve. I need to be focused on my work and the communicate I'm working on with the students. They undergo enough to broach with it as it is; they don't need me as the fellow or whatever bothering them. I don't want to challenge the instructors and contradict anyone. Just trying to have my own space and my own bring home the bacon at this inform. SPURGEON: The first time I remember ever seeing your work was. Were you a latecomer or was I just not aware of you for a very long time? BAK: I'm a latecomer. I had done a couple of small self-published runs of things. I had done a comics/separate project that I was really excited about at the time which was handmade and was really different. A few populate got that. That was the second measure I lived in Portland and I was beginning to alter friends with some cartoonists on the west coast. Around this measure and asked me to participate in the Orchid project. I was really excited because it was the first real anthology I was going to undergo anything to do with. So I jumped at that. I hadn't really done anything desire that before. That was 2002. I evaluate. The earliest thing I had done before that on my own was which I started in Georgia. I evaluate the first one was 2002 and I think Firefly Waltz was 2002 and Orchid came out a little bit later. That's basically how I kind of got started doing my comics. I had always had an arouse in it but I don't evaluate I was create from raw material until '99 or 2000 to really get serious about it. I had been working on a lot of different ideas up until that inform. SPURGEON: How do you look back on the FLUKE undergo? One thing that someone wrote about FLUKE is that it was more about celebrating that scene than about a showcase that it was great just to find out who was in town and who was working on what. That's not exactly a big commercial aspiration. Seeing that was five years ago now how do you be back on that time? BAK: In Georgia I was isolated from the cartoonists who I entangle more of a kinship with on the west coast and in and. I really wanted to do something different. I thought this is Athens. Georgia which has a reputation for its music scene. There's a lot of arts too and I thought it would be interesting to have everything together in one place music and comics have it all in one lay and back up everyone who was doing comics in the area to come. I didn't even experience about at the time. I had no idea what I was doing. I had no idea to delegate authority. I had no idea what was going on. On a whim I got a hold of and Chris. They were desire. "Sure we'll help you out." So they ended up being a couple of early sponsors with and. We had local businesses who chipped in here and there. We set it up in a bar. We did the comics thing with local populate. One or two people came from way out of express. One guy came from Texas. The guy who does. Kevin [Bramer] he came drink and came a bring together of the years I was involved. I had no idea what I was doing. I was homeless at the time. My girlfriend had just kicked me out. [laughter] I'd lost my job. I had nothing. I was losing my mind and this was the only thing I had. It gave.

Unless they are in major denial theycan't honestly think the break of The Rising effected its ultimate salestotals. Same with D&D (given it's smaller sales totals. I guess theycould delude themselves there more easily but it would be delusional, regardless). Now having said that if this thing does get any legs. I think theavailability of the songs online very well could cause to be perceived sales in the sameway that all sales are hurt by piracy. I don't experience that there's a lotthat can be done about that if you plan to actually release an albumto the public though. Is the early "channel" of these songs in their inferior compressedquality really any different from recording them off the radio approve inthe day? Hopefully in that case and in this one populate are pony up forthe real thing once it is available. >On Sep 7. 9:43 am.
