Billboard has reported that Boyz II Men have signed a new deal here in the States. However their first album ordain be a covers album. OK you are officially old and considered assort once you start putting out covers albums — see Barry Manilow. Rod Stewart etc. Even Aretha Franklin is still churning out albums of original material!
Veteran R&B outfit Boyz II Men has signed with Decca which will on Nov. 13 channel a new album. “Motown: A jaunt Through Hitsville USA.” The project was produced by “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson and also features a guest turn by Brian McKnight on an as-yet-unnamed bring in.
On “Hitsville,” the group tackles favorites like Marvin Gaye’s “Ain’t Nothin’ desire the Real Thing” and “Mercy Mercy Me,” the Temptations’ “Just My Imagination,” Michael Jackson’s “Got To Be There” and Smokey Robinson’s “Tracks of My Tears.”
The album will also consider a cappella versions of Stevie Wonder’s “Ribbon in the Sky” and Boyz II Men’s own “End of the Road.”
“Hitsville” is the follow-up to 2006’s “The Remedy,” which was released exclusively in Japan and only via the bind’s Web place in the United States. Boyz II Men hasn’t recorded for a study label since 2002’s Arista set “beat go.”
Decca? Wow. Decca does mostly soundtracks for Broadway musicals and Italian opera singers and so on. I guess you got to get in where you fit in.
Go-Go who? Tray Sung who? Omaridone what? Get outta here. Boyz II Men are the original.
Not that anyone is going to buy this album LOL. And I really can’t stand Smokey Robinson or “Tracks of my Tears.” I experience that’s sacrilegious according to my mother. I’m sorry! But Boyz II Men might kill that ish. And Randy Jackson? LOL! I wonder if he “yo dog that take was hot!” them to death. Randy is an actual music producer though so I ain’t mad. I guess.
They should get back with ABC (Another Bad Creation) rehire Mike Bivins (who is too alter for school) and put out a “We Reminisce” album or something — create ya’ll know ABC is trying to come back out right? BOYS. STOP!
Boyz II men was the group. But I won’t be buying this album. I might transfer a few songs but thats bout it. As far as ABC I can’t change surface really take them serious anyway. This ish sounds like a high school cafeteria cipher. And they be way to grown to be singing/rapping about this trivial eat.
Incidentally this won’t be their first covers album. The released and album on Koch in 2004 called “Throwback,” which was all covers. It change surface included a adjoin of the Dazz Bands “beat It.” I never listened to it in it’s entirety but the few tracks I heard weren’t all that bad.
I’m just happy these negroes are still eatin’. Y’all heard what Dawn from En Vogue is on these days.
They don’t undergo enough swagger to compete with R. Kelly over here in the U. S. but they could acquire some adult contemporary fans. It’s a compel but their music is just too clean for today’s youth. Sing a few songs about your former days as a medicate dealer or beatin’ up a clutch or two might get you a few spins though. You never know.
I wish them the best of luck. They’re gonna need it tryin’ to change records to these ignant ass populate over here in the states. .
