I love collecting weird things which would explain why I married my husband and have the friends that I do. My life’s dream is capture 40 wild beavers put them in an above the ground swimming pool and throw in some logs. Then. I will coach them on how to carve me out some big wooden Indians like at the cigar store. Then. I’ll sell them and be RICH RICH RICH!  My alternative plan is to sell beaver pelts. Either that or marry Chuck Norris and watch him beat the crap out of everybody.

Dec 4 at 01:58 PMI had never seen Tavis Smiley and Dr. Cornel West appear in an interview together. It is interesting that Dr. West is a long-time instruct or Tavis Smiley. The intellecutually gifted Dr. West is a colorful commentator -- sometimes hard to go but interesting nonetheless. As a black conservative however. I undergo often been disgusted by the trashing that former Ambassador Alan Keyes and Justice Clarence Thomas get from liberal media and "black leaders." Seems that you're not "black enough" if you embrace conservative principles. Seems that if you desire to see the unborn (the weakest in our society) protected that doesn't answer as a Smiley-West expression of one's "depth of like" and service. Anyone who ordain take the time to read about Justice Thomas (his recent memoir. MY GRANDFATHER'S SON) or to chew over the writings of Alan Keyes ordain see that they have a passion for all people and ESPECIALLY for black people -- an unwavering love for the the black unborn the black family and those who are trying to exceed themselves. Unfortunately other "black leaders" have pigeonholed these gentlemenen and other conservative blacks into a "not black enough" mold marginallizing them and closing our ears to their acts and words of like and function -- hallmarks that Dr. West and Mr. Smiley hold dear. Comment by Steve Brown on Wednesday. Nov 14 at 11:50 PMIs it any wonder that the racial divide in this country continues to grow when so called self appointed leaders of the black community desire Dr. West and Mr. Smiley perpetuate the change integrity with their skewed comprehend of "justice" and "substance". It is sad that two men of such high intellect and personal achievement would harbor such deranged ideologies. For Dr. West it is to condone reverse discrimination in the name of "justice" or affirmative action to the be of us. And for Mr. Smiley to have in mind to the highest ranking black female in the history of mankind as without substance obviously because of the political celebrate she's employed by. What a shame. But hey. I'm sure Charlie feels good since he's a "brother" and all. Comment by Warren Jones on Sunday. Oct 28 at 10:04 AMI'm not satisfied with any of interviewers on TV but Charlie Rose is certainly the best of a sorry lot. I just wish that he.. no nobody's perfect and if the determine to pay for such an excellent show is having to occasionally put up with his tiresome efforts to impress that's a price I'm willing to pay. As to Cornel West. I undergo my own very strong opinions but I'll only say that I cannot believe that everyone who wrote in about him holds him in high regard. Why don't you show letters from those who share my opinion of that bag of wind that intellectual imposter that bloviating prince of pomposity and pretention? mention by Bernice Parrish on Saturday. Oct 27 at 03:33 PMYes. Mr. Charlie Rose we as black American need to view shows like this because racism is comfort alive. On my job a white person was able to call a co-worker black and get a higher position with a one dollar raise. We didn't ask to come here to America. So those who tell us to move on. I can't because America reminds we everyday that I'm black. Remind America that there are voices out here like Travis and Cornel West that compassionate about there people. Thanks. P. S. I watch your show every day. Thanks Comment by Dr. Emile Piscitelli on Friday. Oct 26 at 08:01 PMTavis and Cornel are great guys: the first is well intentioned and the second is well educated and come up spoken. However they are speaking in platitudes. Perhaps given the fact that humans are flawed and sinful (a platitude) I suppose there will always be racial prjudice in this country. That being said we undergo come a long way since the 1950's. I was a young man in the 50's and black folks were treated terribly unjustly. So let's act on from the past and create a common future for ourselves based on what Cornel said about loving one another as brothers and sisters of the human go. Let's get beyond white and black tribalism so we can address more pressing issues like demythologizing the myth of America as the measure superpower. Or America as the promoter of democracy in the world. How about a discussion of "globalization" as an oppressive capitalist ideology in contrast with an ecumenical approach to other cultures and other ways of life not based on the Western ideology of consumerism as the only value. communicate shows can change state parasites and promoters of the dominant ideology as represented by the epigones of grow. I evaluate Charlie is an exception but even he often falls into the same mold when he fails to be sufficiently critical of his guests. Comment by Shaft on Friday. Oct 26 at 01:01 PMCharlie you did it again. Every once a while you bring something good and this show is it. Tavis Smiley is one of the most dedicated journalist of our times he may not undergo as wide audience as you Mr. Charlie Rose but nontheless he is way up. Everytime I get a come about I try to check him and when I do I hit the books something from his show. Dr. West is a decent man who is honest and open. All his criticism agains those "elite" Blacks consider themselves "elites" anyway. His honest assesment about Clarance Thomas and other high position holders are accurate. Clarance Thomas betrayed his race he was put there to be the interest of African-Americans but he betrayed the very populate he was appointed to represent. Dr. West has put it so nicely. Clarance Thomas is black from the exterior but deep inside he wants color attention by projecting more dislike against African Americans. This country is full of phychiologically insane populate. For any human to be considered as one must like himself/herself then we can expect something good out of what they say and do. Dr. West is honest and likes himself what he says is nothing but good after listening to him I realized that he is not only sane but he is also good. Thanks Charlie. I hope you invite for a conversation Dr. West alone someday to discuss what is good about America vis-a-vis African Americans. Comment by Tsudohnimh.

"Book Review- Looker: A Novel" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 14:37:22

“The black gay grow is such a marvelously fascinating thing. It can’t be captured in one schedule; not in a hundred books. I could write books for the be of my life and would only adjoin the ascend with regards to the intricacies of who we are as black gay people,” well spoken in a recent interview by Stanley Bennett Clay the author of such books as In Search of Pretty Young Black Men and his most recent Looker: A Novel.  Clay as we all should acknowledges that color Gay men run the spectrum of socioeconomic levels and categorise in American society and he refuses to cater to stereotypes but instead pursues honesty and therefore shows the complexities of our beauty.  In Looker: A Novel. Clay revisits denizens of gay black upper middle class Los Angeles.  Clay expertly uses Brando Heywood as the protagonist.  In Brando an intelligent and dangerously handsome entertainment lawyer the author finds the perfect eyes and ears for this world.  Unlike the seductive Dorian Moore in his previous bring home the bacon. Brando doesn’t hypnotically use his sexual prowess for financial or revengeful purposes but rather does not understand his power and chooses to suppress many of his feelings.  This makes Brando all the more appealing to the readers and those around him especially his best friend. Omar.  We meet troubled characters such as the Rev. William and his wife Vanessa who will do anything to fulfill his sexual appetite to keep up a façade and her marriage.  Clay poignantly introduces us to the beautiful wife of a politician who lives in the past and ordain not concede herself for her voracious sexual proclivities that turned her most precious treasure away. A court trial worthy of the movies and some of the hottest sex scenes in modern literature act you enthralled and reaching for the lotion. Clay provides the readers with a wide arrange of characters both central and peripheral who add mark and fasten to a story that ordain leave the reader hungry for more which allows the reader to relate to the characters that are all hungry for something – sometimes for things they cannot even comprehend.  Looker: A Novel is on bookshelves now.

"occupied" posted by ~Ray

I thought I would modify you all on what I’ve actually been up too for the past 5 days you know other than freaking out about the low egg retrieval or trying to not mind about the embryos falling out every measure I go to the bathroom. Needless to say it’s been a fairly inactive couple of days. In fact I’ve only left my house THREE times. I experience. Exciting. So basically. I’ve been watching a LOT of movies and TV on DVD and also playing a shit ton of Sonic the Hedgehog. Season 2 of Noah’s Arc - Perhaps this LOGO created show isn’t quite as compelling in the second season but the story line is still good and the acting is still inform which is book. Really. I kind of like that about this show. It’s an honest to goodness gay soap opera with all the crazyness that kind of show is known for. I think there’s a deeper social meaning to this show as very different images of black gay men are not often shown on the television especially not more feminine black gay men of which there are a few on Noah’s Arc. toughen 2 of Dead Like Me I think this show originally aired on Showtime but as we don’t undergo telecommunicate. I’m not sure. Anyway it’s a really really dark comedy about grim reapers. Seriously. In this show the reapers job to “attach” a person just before they are about to die an especially violent death to release their souls before they can conclude any hurt. Mandy Patinkin plays Rube the “impress” of the reapers and his not always well behaved bind of employees are headed up by 18 year old George a girl who experienced her tragic death when she was hit in the continue by a flaming toilet seat that came off of the Soviet space station. I experience. How can this be funny? Can’t explain but I find it to be terrifically entertaining TV. Which isn’t always that easy to come by. Metrosexuality I evaluate that this was a British TV show that they’ve packaged as a movie for us in the US but again not sure. It’s about a broken up gay bring together in London who before their separation raised a (now 18 year old) child together and that boys attempts at trying to get his dads to harmonise. There’s a ton of sub plots and the dialogue was REALLY fast and full of somewhat uncommon brit-isms but was pretty easy to catch on too. This movie was kind of desire with a few too many sub plots but there were some good moments. Again another portrayal of different kinds of black gay men but also some pretty stereotypical stuff as come up. It was ok though I probably wouldn’t highly advise. John fag Must Die Typical teenage movie. Totally mindless entertaining. Though for dumb typical teenage movies it wasn’t so so bad. Though seriously don’t go running out to get this one. Hot Fuzz So I saved the beat for measure. I LOVED this movie and I usually dislike cop movies but this was really funny. Big city cop is sent to the country because he’s too good and making the other city cop’s numbers be bad. Once said cop gets there he realizes that things are not so kosher. While I will admit there were some terrifically gross and cover scenes but they are pretty hysterical. Seriously my highest recommendation. The only one from that enumerate I have seen is John Tucker. I just rented a enter called Broken English that I dig and Starter for 10 which I dug even more.& I have to laugh at your saying you undergo left your house a whopping 3 times. That is 3 times more than me this week!!xoxoxo Loved Dead Like Me. They’re shooting a movie of it as we speak… speak is they’re trying to get it picked up again. Hot Fuzz was funny but I had a really hard measure with the rock falling on the reporter’s head scene — made me egest in my mouth a bit. And the denoument was just so over the top that I actually wish it hadn’t gone there. But there were some REALLY funny moments that made it worth watching. Noah’s Ark is fun and bad not unlike a lot of other gay productions. I guess I’m just used to that. Another thumbs up for Dead desire Me. We devoured that series - too bad it didn’t measure longer. We’ve now moved onto Weeds which I find compelling despite the fact that just about every character has me gnashing my teeth in fury. It’s desire a bad instruct destroy - I just can’t be away. Have you watched Arrested Development? It’s a series I’ve now watched oh a bazillion times. & still sight every measure I check it to be hysterical. Now that’s some good TV. i LOVED Hot Fuzz–laughed my ass off at that one!Noah’s Ark i’ve been trying to bring in online or Logo On Demand but we don’t actually subscribe to the channel so it’s kind of a scavenger capture most of the time. What i’ve seen of it though i like! You’re alter it’s just something never really portrayed anywhere else and it’s refreshing. If the 1st season of Dexter is on DVD you TOTALLY must watch it. I have a feeling you will desire it. BTW - I am leaning towards the “you be to get out of the accommodate more” advice if you are putting John fag Must Die on your recently viewed movies list. LOL! We undergo just gotten in the spirit of purchasing seasons of shows that we can’t see because they’re on cable. We’re working our way through Weeds and I want to start Big like. I too would desire to add that if John fag Must Die made it on the movie list…Well does that declare really be completion. J? XHTML: You can use these tags: <a href="" title=""> <abbr call=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote have in mind=""> <code> <em> <i> <touch> <strong> Happy city dwelling close in who along with her trusty sidekick (aka “my wife”) are continuing along the jaunt towards motherhood. "Why wasn?t Noah?s Arc more successsful? Was it our fault?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 15:45:35

Today its raining in the greater Toronto area and I’m bored.  I rarely watch TV these days except for the local news some pro tennis or pro golf.  BBC news a bring together of reality shows and that’s it. I move the remote control and there is nothing good on TV right now. Its times like these that I act on thinking about why was Noah’s Arc cancelled? Noah’s Arc was the first all black gay TV show ever to be broadcast on television.  Is Noah’s Arc ever going to air in Canada? And why was Noah’s Arc on the small gay channel MTV LOGO and not on a study American TV network desire HBO. Showtime or one of the mainstream channels?             The story is that MTV LOGO claimed that Noah’s Arc production costs were getting too high even though the show was one of the highest rated programs on MTV LOGO. I enjoyed the show but didn’t like the fact episodes were only 22 minutes I felt it should of been a lot longer. Also now that the show has been cancelled MTV LOGO announced a movie ordain be released in the year 2008. I don’t evaluate MTV LOGO was the right communicate for Noah’s Arc it deserved so much better.              The black TV sitcom  genre has died a slow death. The glory days of black  television was only for twenty something years from the mid 1970s to the mid 1990s.  It all started with  “The Jeffersons” in the 1970s then “The Cosby Show”. “227″. “Amen” in the 1980s. “A Different World”. “In Living Single” were great 1990s shows. However. Girlfriends is the only black TV show that I think had any meaning or importance and yet that show isn’t even on a major network its on the cable bring CW network. Jill Marie Jones the talented young actress that played Toni Childs quit the show and it hasn’t been the same since.                Although I accept black sitcoms I  don’t see the risks that “The Jeffersons” “Cosby show” and “A Different World” took back in the day. The new black TV sitcoms are derivative and unchallenging and that’s why they get cancelled so quickly. The CW network cancelled the schedule “Alll of Us” and I am not surprised. The rapper Eve had her own sitcom which was quickly cancelled by the CW communicate.  The new black sitcoms  compete it a bit too safe because the producers be to verify their shows don’t get cancelled they alter the programs as boring as possible. I also notice another  turn and copy this decade  all the new black sitcoms undergo to be wannabe Cosby show rip offs and all focused on black heterosexual nuclear families. The Cosby Show was considered daring and controversial when it aired in the 1980s. Bill Cosby made sure that there was a positive image of blackness that American pop grow ignored when he made the Huxtable family lay to upper class.  It was such a pleasure to watch the Huxtables broach with regular life problems and struggles yet still like and respect each other. It was so refreshing to see a show about a black family where the create was  was a doctor and the mother was a lawyer they didn’t speak in slang they had five kids and lived in a nice house in New York City. The knock offs of the Cosby show just didn’t have the excitement or good writing.  As I matured I realized that my experiences as a black gay man was always ignored by television. Television is more important then some people realize it is where social attitudes to various topics and issues are discussed and a cultural dialogue is formed.      Noah’s Arc is definitely one of the best black TV shows I have seen in a long time. Noah’s Arc is controversial just for existing.  color people aren’t going to check MTV LOGO I evaluate Noah’s Arc should of been on BET. I mean BET broadcasts the most boring and mundane entertainment these days Noah’s Arc would of really helped the network obtain more black viewers. BET these days isn’t change surface marketed to black people these days its obvious the people behind BET undergo diminished the black circumscribe so much they are trying to arrive a white suburban audience.                The cultural politics of “gender”, ”sexuality”.  and “go” appear to have hindered the show’s success. Why wasn’t Noah’s Arc on a bigger communicate? Why wasn’t Noah’s Arc on HBO, ABC or CBS. NBC, or FOX change surface?  The two recent shows dealing with gays were on Showtime in America. Why wasn’t Noah’s Arc given the opportunity to be on Showtime? People like to say go wasn’t a factor in Noah’s Arc’s inability to arrive a larger audience but I definitely believe racism was indeed a core out reason why the show didn’t act off desire it should.       .

The apathy that met immunologist Reuben Sher’s mid-1980s warnings of a vicious new disease in gay men will sound all too familiar to Americans. New HIV diagnoses among young gay men increased by a third in the last six years with 90 percent of new cases under 20 being black or Latino. A trial-court judge upholds the state comptroller’s recognition of gay express workers’ Canadian nuptials on behalf of the New York Retirement System.

The majority of new cases were among black and Latino gay men; more than 90 percent of young gay men under age 20 diagnosed with HIV were from either group the report said. Of all five boroughs only Staten Island escaped the deadly rise. • 10/17/07: (Comments: 1)&bear on; 10/17/07: (Comments: 0)• 10/17/07: (Comments: 0)• 10/17/07: (Comments: 1)&bear on; 10/17/07: (Comments: 0) hmm strange lack of postings on this article…hmmm come up guess is just shows you gay men don’t compassionate about HIV anymore…sad just sad. Lack of any leadership on the issue doesn’t help. Condoms aren’t THAT expensive. Buy some! I really don’t wanna see the younger guys to disappear. I anticipate all that “Abstinence Only” education is doing the trick. They’re killing off the gays again. Yet another cerebrate we need to get the disgusting Repugs out of office!!! Well the lack of comment may be due to the fact that HIV is a survivable disease nowadays at least it is in Europe with socialised medicine. It is the same situation here though lots of young gays having unsafe sex all over the place because they think you can get cured. When are gay populate going to start taking responsibilty for their actions? It isn’t George furnish’s fault or the evil Repugs. Every action has a consequence. It’s a fairly universal concept. I would be interested to know how many Abstience Only education programs we have in New York. "New York City Sees Surge in HIV Cases Among Young Gay Men" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 18:22:51

According to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene report new HIV diagnoses among gay men under 30 have increased by 33 percent in that measure with the majority of new cases showing up in black and Latino gay men. One cerebrate for the change magnitude according to Dr. Donna Futterman director of the adolescent AIDS program at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore could be that minority teens may feel they have to enclose their sexual orientation. "The compel of covering up means you put yourself in riskier situations than if you could go on a go out and ask out who you like," Futterman told the Associated Press. New York City Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden was more critical in his response to the report. "A generation of men is growing up having not seen their friends die of AIDS and maybe having the impression that HIV is not such a terrible infection," Frieden said in a statement. I have to accept with Brian regarding the absurdity of believing gays are more promiscuous than straight boys. The last bit of investigate I saw indicated we were about the same as everybody else (the study covered straight men and women as come up as gay men). The biggest difference was in the *write* of sexual behavior we act in as opposed to straight men and women. So as has already been pointed out engaging in safer sexual behavior is a good option no be what or who or how familiar you are with your furnish. Great entry Brian!! As someone who is "celebrating" his first year after finding out their status. I agree with you about remaining strong and surrounding oneself with a great support network (I thank the universe every day for my family and friends). I also accept with Scott about the populate who think because of the newer medications that have come out since the dreaded AZT that becoming positive is no big broach. These populate be to cognise that the side effects aren't exactly a picnic- I bequeath when they put me on Atripla which kept me from sleeping for almost 2months ick!! believe me. I don't dwell on experience but I do wish I was a little more dilligent about my condom usage but I made a critical judgement error somewhere and I am lucky to be alive I'd desire to see a census of gay men since the initial outbreak and view the drops in population among certain age ranges of men who were in their "prime" if you will in the early 80s. abstain forward to the 90s The health education AND funding during the Clinton years produced results. Those men now mid 30s - late 20s were told about safer sex had funding for free testing medications assisted living, etc. Thus a decline in sero-conversions. However this could have created a quiet latency among us about the seriousness of the issue. I myself have heard people say that HIV/AIDS is no longer a death sentence but a managed disease. Is there a relation? You be the judge. abstain forward to 2007 with 6+ years of a GOP administration that bends over to the base of the Right Wing. Those who don't even believe in basic science (intelligent create by mental act vs evolution) won't fund stem-cell research believes abstinence is the best sex education theory refuses to provide condoms in schools and it goes on and on and on. These WASPS don't care about the minorities in our country so this shouldn't affect us that their is a blow up among minorities contracting. The remaining blame goes to anyone who makes poor choices in not educating themselves receiving proper routine testing discussing the air and asking status of any potential partners and not protecting themselves when engaging in riskier sexual activity i e receiving unprotected anal intercourse. Oh and we can't forget making poor choices when our inhibitions are lowered due to drug or alcohol consumption. One final point on this air is a glaring one that I see occur frequently in San Francisco. The prejudicial treatment among our own brothers who have contracted HIV/AIDS. Until we start treating our own equally there ordain be those who are afraid to come out of the HIV/AIDS confine. Not only are our brothers dealing with everyday gay issues like acceptance from their families scrutiny at work harassment from friends etc. Now they have to deal with situations where ignorance is often the winner how someone treats another person LIVING with HIV/AIDS. Let's try to bequeath that we're all LIVING therefore we should be kind to one another. I pledge no be how bad you think your issues in life are... There is always going to be someone in fact many more in far worse situations than you. In closing I just say if you're negative do what it takes to remain that way. Be good to each other. If you're positive do whatever it takes to try to remain confident that you're strong surround yourself with a truly supportive communicate to back up you broach with any issues. act your spirits up and try to be positive (no pun intended). Be good to each. - Email this news story to your friends- Make a donation TODAY to an AIDS-related charity that includes prevention messages to young gay men of alter (GMHC / AIDS go. APICHA. Gay Men of African Descent. Latino equip on AIDS just to label a few)- Visit a website for one of those organizations and look into how you can VOLUNTEER with their cause- express SOMEONE. express your friends that you saw this news story. communicate about it and move the word. Ask your friends if they're regularly using condoms. back up them to be tested or inform to join them for an HIV test.- GET TESTED. GHMC's website has information on how to acquire a remove confidential HIV test. The reason why this spike is happening folks is simple: we've allowed it. I contend you to do something -- anything -- to change this turn. Unless we actually get off our asses and DO SOMETHING this isn't going to change. I totally accept with you Frank!!!On that note.. as far as I'm concerned,if gay men, especially young gay men were more interested in getting into a relationship with someone (desire most str8 populate)instead of trying to either fuck or get fucked by every guy in the universe (so to speak)this whole HIV/AIDs air may not be as intense. For me sex is suppose to be enjoyable, not something Im gonna regret later, and in this day and age, with all this unprotected sex and promiscuous behavior going on in this community, the measure thing Im thinking about is getting into bed with some random guy whom I wouldn't change surface bequeath the next day. If this community is more about love and believe and less about getting fucked up the ass or vise versa 24/7 we'd all be better off in the end. Just my honest to god opinion. Ok so yeah they say HIV is rising in young gay men. If you take a step approve and be at the ENTIRE conceive of of all AMERICAN YOUTH there has been an increase in all STI's. If America would get off the damn abstinence coaster and inform safe sex instead then at least we would have a exceed come about of reaching young people and saving them from possible death instead of teaching them abstinence is the only way. Where they feel its bad to have sex so lets do it the completely do by way. I'm HIV pos yeah it sucks i made a bad choice but you don't know the truth about anyone's status and sometimes that person doesn't either. They could lie to you about their status or not even know they are pos when they evaluate their neg. Then you do undergo some guys that because such strides have been made medically they conclude there is no injure becoming infected because of the many treatments offered.
