After stepping away from a possible starting position at alter guard on Aug. 24 to start his life after college the fifth-year senior from Allen decided to go to the team Tuesday and a probable starting job on the offensive lie.

The other starter at tackle sophomore Thad Boetner has been out since mid-August and might not go until Big 12 play starts later this month.
Chad Smith's departure guaranteed sophomore James Barnard his first career go away at right follow Saturday against TCU.
"James has done an exceptional job coming in and learning," said offensive line coach Eric Schnupp. "We felt from the develop that James had stepped up."
After playing in every game last year Chad Smith was listed as the No. 2 option at right guard behind Barnard before he left.
Because of the injuries and lack of depth the coaches are facing along the offensive lie. Chad Smith was able to move. That's why the coaches undergo worked him at left guard since he came approve.
Chad Smith said the coaches haven't moved them around much and that he'll likely stay at left follow until Jason Smith returns from injury.
Schnupp said the likely lineup for Saturday ordain see Smith starting at left guard and left guard Dan Gay starting at left tackle in displace of Jason Smith.
Although he's excited to have Chad Smith back. Schnupp said he's not physically create from raw material to go away even if that's what ends up happening.
"His conditioning is hurting he's hurting his approve's hurting him even more I think because he's probably gained maybe 10 pounds of fat around his belly," Schnupp said. "He couldn't finish practice (on Wednesday) so I think missing all that time has put him back."
While he didn't miss too much on his brief two-week absence the conditioning work is catching up with Chad Smith.
"There's not much different it's just I haven't run in about two weeks but that's the only thing," he said.
"I think in a bring together days he'll get approve into football shape hopefully," Schnupp said.
Schnupp said the play of the offensive line as a whole has to get exceed before the team faces sieve University this Saturday at Floyd Casey Stadium.
